artist band film maroon menu nav bar myspace
Maroon menu navigation bar Artist (Band, Film) pages
MySpace Band Page, Top Area, Ad Banner, Search, Main Menu, Music Nav Bar
Most of the content which was on this page, is now no different than on the standard page, please see this article:
This code was tested, and still working, on September 13th 2008.
This article still covers the maroon navigation artist menu:
How the music nav bar (and its code) is Structured
For a diagram showing the structure (showing borders of divs, tables, cells along with classes) go here:
mySpace page showing Artist Band page Structure
The maroon nav bar background coloring is done at this level:
div table
The navbar contains a background, a bottom border, an image, links, and text (the pipe things between each link which look like vertical lines). The text is not defined as font, or bold or any thing easy to isolate it with. The links can be addressed using the a, but the pipes between them are more of a problem.
The image, within the maroon bar is addressable as:
div table a.navbar img
We can isolate the actual links with this:
div table a
and then undo the effect on the main menu by addressing it like this:
div.profileWidth table div a
It has a unique id assigned to it, and can be address like this:
table#musicnav
(However now that they are blocking the pound sign, even in non safe mode, I can no longer take advantage of this.)
Hide the maroon music menu nav bar
It is now easier to hide, because the content that used to be at the same level, has had additional classification added to it.
One can now do this:
<a class=i href="xiii.us/ms/ad-search-menu">
myspace hide maroon music menu nav bar</a>
<style>
div table, .i, i i.x {display:none;}
div.profileWidth table {display:block}
table div table {display:block;}
</style>
<i class=i>!!! End Code to Style Top Ad/Search/Menu !!!</i>
Fade the maroon music menu nav bar to semi or completely transparent
<a class=i href="xiii.us/ms/ad-search-menu">
myspace fade maroon music menu nav bar transparent</a>
<style>
div table {filter:alpha(opacity=13); opacity:0.13}
.i, i i.x {display:none;}
div.profileWidth table,
table div table {filter:none; opacity:0.99999;}
</style>
<i class=i>!!! End Code to Style Top Ad/Search/Menu !!!</i>
Change opacity values closer to 0 to fade more, or higher to fade less.
Style the maroon music menu nav bar Logo
<i class=i>!!START code to style music nav bar logo !!</i>
<a class=i href="http://xiii.us/ms/band-navbar">

a.navbar img, i i i.x {visibility:hidden;}
.i {display:none;}
</style>
<i class=i>!!! END CODE to style music nav bar logo</i>
Style the maroon music menu nav bar
You can style (color, fonts and such) the maroon navigation bar, HOWEVER it does effect other elements, UNLESS you also apply style for those elements.
You can style the music nav bar DIFFERENT from the top menu and calendar ONLY IF you also add style code for those elements.
I did NOT add that style code below. I suggest you read my articles on styling the calendar, and the top menu, and style those areas to your liking.
The code block below sets the style of the multiple elements on the navigation bar.
By applying the below code block, you will easily see its effects on the bar.
From that point you can change the colors, fonts, and such until you get the look you want.
<i class=i>!!START code to style music nav bar !!</i>
<a class=i href="http://xiii.us/ms/band-navbar">
myspace artist music band nav bar style code by Eileen</a>
<style>
{! style applied to music nav bar effects shows and main menu and shows. This can be reversed by styling these areas with additional code. !}
{! remove maroon background and black bottom border from music bar !}
div table {background-color:white !important; border-bottom:0px !important}
x.i i, .i {display:none;}
{! font of music nav bar !}
div table td a {color:darkgreen !important; font-family:comic sans ms; font-size:11px;}
</style>
<i class=i>!!END code to style music nav bar !!</i>

E., I sure do enjoy the pop-up free news site! I had never heard of it before. And I get tired of yelling at the Fox News & CNN sites for all the junk they have on there. They can't hear me anyway, lol.
Thanks ;~D

Thanks for all of the valuable info!!! I used the code you listed in blog (03.11.07) RE: placing a video on a band profile. It worked great, but now I'm trying to add a second and third video, but it isn't working. Additional videos end up on top of the first video and placement isn't working!?!
Please tell me how to address each video independently.
You rock.

You have to put each video into its own class.
Use a different class name for each one.
Then you can place them each independently.

Thanks for responding so quickly. Unfortunately, I still can't get it to work. I'm placing the following code in withing the core content in the MEMBERS section:
(CRAP! It won't let me add the HTML. But where it said "my video" I name it Rustmine1 (for the first video) and Rustmine2 (for the second video).
If I put this code above the IMAGE code, the videos are at the top of the page; if I place them after the IMAGE code, the videos are at the bottom of the page. Again, I'd like to place them in a specific spot ON THE PAGE. PLEASE HELP!!!
The mock page I'm working on is here:

THANKS!!!
Joseph
Hey, I was wondering, is there a way to make the maroon nav bar wider?
thanks.
Completely off topic....but I don't know who else to ask. A buddy has a myspace page that has a youtube video imbedded into his page, but I can't find it.
myspace.com/cheeppc
I've looked all through it but can't find it.
He wants to keep the top video (youtube nation, it's in the "who I'd like to mee" section)
He wants to get rid of the evanescence video which is below that in no apparent 'section'.
Help
hmmm ok. I have an artist page but when i try to insert this code in my "Band Bio" area, it just erases all the text?
any suggestion where i should put this? lol... i'm new at this, but learning!
i used the remove maroon music menu bar code, it worked but now i cant get the edit link to open in my edit band profile, my profile is stuck now! this is a dangerous code and i cant fix the problem i dont want to delete my site. can any thing be done? mmosca9@aol.com
never mind got it to work, i just deleted the code in safe mode (just in case anyone else has this problem) mike
Yea, SAFE MODE, must be used when using this type of code.
But if one does get stuck, there is another way to clear the problem, that I cover in one of my articles, and should add to all of them.
i was wondering if there was a way i could actually JUST change the color from maroon... to like black and still leave the music nav bar?
BTW Kudos to the maker of this site, helped me to make my page look nice!!!
Yes, read this:
Style Music Nav Bar
I have way too many articles floating around, I need to consolidate them.
I am now trying to hide the NEW non-maroon myspace artist page nav bar and instead of the code having any effect on the bar itself, it changes the entire page! Any suggestions?
Thanks for your time and all u do!

No matter what I do, I cannot get rid of the gray MySpace Music Bar. I am very PC savvy when it comes to web design, etc... but trying to design an Artist profile for a friend has proven to be a total nightmare. lol
Thanks!
Lorrie
Oh PS: I've tried many of the codes you've listed and it causes the editing area to become so transparent, etc, that I can't even see the edit or submit buttons. Thanks!
Lorrie
does the film page have a safe mode?
I don't remember if it did, but I do remember it was a real pain to edit.
Do you have firefox?
If you do, you can turn off style to solve the edit problem.
I don't know if the code here still works, I have not tested it in a while, and rarely test the film page.
For the band page, safe mode solves the problem.
First off I want to thank you for all the work you've done here. Now to my question. I have a band myspace and I want to replace the "upcoming shows" title with a picture. Is there any way I can do that?
hey there! first of all thx so much for these codes... definitely a great help, i've been searching so long for stuff like this =)... I've applied the code to hide the maroon music bar. works fine, only problem is that the code increases the width of my profile. the width of the ad, google search and nav bar hasn't changed, so everthing below that overlaps on the right side. any idea how to fix that?? cheers, john (musicjohne@gmail.com)
bad description of my problem, sorry. i checked some of ur other articles and u've described the problem as "Prevent Google Search from Wrapping to Next Line .." .. that's what's happened and i verified that it is the code for hiding the maroon music bar that causes this effect. any possibility of solving this? if it is too time-absorbing for u, please don't bother; not being able to remove the music bar without wrap won't kill me ;) thx
(just for clarification: ..).. what i'm actually aiming at, is having a banner above main table and below Ad and menu area for my band profile. ur (fantastic and enormously helpful) banner generator doesn't offer a code for this yet; so due to this and my impatience i used the code for a banner below main menu and tried hiding the maroon music bar. =)
I know this is pretty old stuff now, but I found out that hiding the maroon nav bar and then importing the top stuff again somehow messes with the length of the whole top menu. The poster John here had the same problem. I did some experimenting and found out that adding:
div.profileWidth table tr td {width:800px;}
..will fix it!
Thank you for this great blog. /Martin
I played around with the code again. You don't need the tr in it, only the td. But it doesn't really matter as it looks the same, hehe. :)
